Ministry of Commerce Issues Q1 Consumer Protection Report, Logs 120,000 Inspections and 182,000 Complaints
The Ministry of Commerce released its quarterly consumer protection report for the first quarter of 2026, outlining efforts to enhance market compliance and safeguard consumer rights.
Inspection teams conducted more than 120,000 visits to commercial establishments across the Kingdom during the period.
The ministry processed 182,884 commercial complaints. Reopened cases declined by 20.4% compared with the same period last year, indicating improved resolution efficiency.
The ministry also carried out more than 6,000 electronic inspections to verify compliance of online stores.
It launched 10 product recall campaigns covering 5,560 vehicles and consumer products to address defects and enhance safety standards.
The ministry said these indicators reflect the effectiveness of its regulatory framework, improved compliance among businesses, and growing consumer confidence.
