JIAT Issues Statement Regarding the Allegation that the Coalition Forces Targeted the Governorate Building in Zinjibar Directorate of Abyan Governorate on 04/06/2015

A statement was issued by the Joint Incidents Assessment Team (JIAT) regarding the allegation that the Coalition Forces targeted the (governorate building) in (Zinjibar) Directorate of (Abyan) Governorate on (04/06/2015); it reads as follows:
 "With regard to what was reported to JIAT by the National Commission to Investigate Alleged Violations to Human Rights in Yemen (NCIAVHR), that on (04/06/2015) at (11:00) am, Coalition Forces aircraft targeted the (governorate building) in (zinjibar) Directorate of (Abyan) Governorate, (Coordinates of the claimed location were provided).
 JIAT vetted the incident, and reviewed all documents, including air tasking orders, daily mission schedule, mission execution procedures, after mission reports, satellite images, JIAT's field visit report to several directorates and governorates in Yemen, Coalition Forces rules of engagement, provisions and principles of International Humanitarian Law and its customary rules, and after assessment of evidences, JIAT found that the claimed (governorate building) is located in the south western part of (Abyan) Governorate.
 JIAT specialists studied the satellite images of the claimed (governorate building), after the date of the claim, and found no traces of aerial targeting.
 By studying the JIAT's field visit report to the claimed location on (29/02/2021), the following was found:
 Traces of damage caused by clashes with surface weapons, on the building and its fences.
 Traces of damage on the building, JIAT was unable to determine the cause of it.
 By studying the air missions carried out by the Coalition Forces on (04/06/2015), which is the date of the claim, JIAT found that the Coalition Forces did not carry out any air missions on (Abyan) Governorate.
 By studying the daily mission schedule carried out by the Coalition Forces one day before and one day after the claimed date, JIAT found the following:
 1. On (03/06/2015) the day before the claimed date, Coalition Forces did not carry out any air missions on (Abyan) Governorate.
 2. On (05/06/2015) the day after the claimed date, Coalition Forces did not carry out any air missions on (Abyan) Governorate.
 In light of that, JIAT found that Coalition Forces did not target the (governorate building) in (Zinjibar) Directorate of (Abyan) Governorate, on (04/06/2015), as claimed".
