Riyadh Hosts Inaugural Regional Headquarters of Institute of Internal Auditors

Riyadh today hosted the signing of an agreement to establish the first regional headquarters of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) outside the United States, attended by President of the General Court of Audit and Chairman of the Saudi Authority of Internal Auditors Dr. Hussam Alangari, IIA President and CEO Anthony Pugliese, and CEO of the Saudi Authority of Internal Auditors Abdullah Alshebeili.

The agreement reflects the Kingdom's standing as a global hub for business and professional expertise, and highlights its geographical, legislative, and economic strengths in line with Saudi Vision 2030.

Alangari stated that selecting the Kingdom reflects international confidence in Saudi professional organizations and the progress achieved in the oversight and governance system, adding that the agreement will facilitate knowledge transfer and build professional capacities in internal auditing.

Pugliese noted that Riyadh was chosen due to significant advances in the Kingdom's internal audit profession and its role in supporting the profession's growth across the region.

The headquarters is expected to support specialized international events and training programs to qualify national cadres, in line with Saudi Vision 2030's goals of advancing transparency, governance, and the business environment.
