Islamic Arts Biennale Reveals Coral Biology's Impact on Saudi Coastal Architecture

As part of its cultural program, the Diriyah Biennale Foundation's second Islamic Arts Biennale yesterday hosted a workshop at Hajj Terminal at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah. The session explored coral biology's fundamentals, the significance of its ecosystems, and its cultural impact, particularly its presence in Saudi architecture.

During the session, researchers and experts in coral reef restoration discussed the threats facing these vital ecosystems and the actions being taken to protect and restore them.

The workshop further explored Jeddah's cultural heritage and renewal through marine biology and architecture, revealing how coral reefs shaped Saudi coasts, prompting environmental initiatives and pioneering conservation efforts.
