Saudi Green Building Forum Granted Consultative Status with UNIDO

The Saudi Green Building Forum (SGBF) expressed its deep gratitude and appreciation to the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) following the decision of the member states board to grant the SGBF "Consultative Status” during the 53rd session held at the UN headquarters in Vienna, Austria.

The decision marks a significant step, reflecting growing international confidence in the SGBF's role in promoting sustainable industrial development, disseminating the concepts of the circular economy, and contributing to the construction of green and climate-resilient cities globally, particularly in the Middle East and North Africa region.

SGBF secretary-general Faisal Alfadl affirmed the forum's commitment to supporting UNIDO's plans and objectives. This particularly includes accelerating the adoption of circular economy concepts in the building and construction sector, promoting energy efficiency and low-carbon development in national industries, and building global partnerships for inclusive and sustainable industrialization.

This new recognition adds to the SGBF's status as an advisory observer to the UN Economic and Social Council and enhances its contributions to international platforms supporting the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Saudi Vision 2030.
