OCHA: 33.7 Million People in Sudan Need Humanitarian Assistance

United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in Sudan has reported that 33.7 million people in the country need humanitarian assistance, describing the scale of needs as unprecedented amid the worsening crisis.
In a report released today, OCHA described Sudan’s situation as one of the world’s most severe humanitarian emergencies. It called for $2.9 billion to aid 20.4 million people across the country, noting that humanitarian organizations had reached 17.1 million people by September 2026 despite operational challenges.
According to the report, only 18% of those in need, approximately 3 million people, had received multisectoral assistance, underscoring the significant unmet humanitarian needs across Sudan.
