Immediate 24/7 Response: SFDA's Hajj Operations Center Plays a Pivotal Role in Enhancing Pilgrim Safety

The Saudi Food and Drug Authority's (SFDA) Hajj Operations Center continues its round-the-clock operations from its headquarters in Makkah during the 1447 AH Hajj season, as part of a comprehensive regulatory framework aimed at enhancing field preparedness and expediting response times, thereby ensuring the safety of food, medicine, medical devices, and supplies provided to pilgrims.

The Center's operations span a wide geographical area encompassing Makkah, Medina, and Jeddah—including the primary aviation gateways at King Abdulaziz International Airport and Prince Mohammad Bin Abdulaziz International Airport—and extending throughout the Holy Sites. This is achieved through an integrated operational system that supports oversight and regulatory activities during the Hajj season.

The Center plays a pivotal role in monitoring field operations and coordinating directly with relevant authorities. It manages reports and analyzes performance indicators in real time using advanced technological systems, including 11 interactive dashboards and smart screens. This data-driven approach facilitates rapid decision-making, swift enforcement against violators, and enhanced operational efficiency around the clock.

As part of its ongoing digital transformation, the SFDA has implemented a suite of smart technologies to support its field inspection teams. These include body cameras and wireless communication systems directly linked to the Operations Center, enabling real-time monitoring of field activities and providing immediate technical and legal support to inspectors. Furthermore, these systems optimize the management and deployment of inspection teams across various locations.

The Center's technical and operational integration significantly boosts field performance efficiency during the Hajj season. To date, it has processed over 247 incoming requests, provided 104 technical and legal consultations, and issued 15 oversight reports. This data reflects the effectiveness of the integrated operational system in protecting the health and safety of pilgrims while strengthening oversight readiness.

The Hajj Operations Center embodies the SFDA’s commitment to developing an advanced oversight and operational system that elevates the quality of services provided to pilgrims. By seamlessly integrating human expertise with advanced technology, the Authority directly fulfills the directives of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s wise leadership—ensuring best services for pilgrims to the Two Holy Mosques and upholding the foundational principles of hospitality and care upon which the Kingdom was built.
