Jazan University Showcases Saudi Coffee Research, Cultivars on International Coffee Day

The Environment and Nature Research Center at Jazan University marked International Coffee Day, observed annually on October 1, with an exhibition showcasing scientific research on Saudi coffee and highlighting the crop as both an authentic cultural legacy and a strategic agricultural product backed by innovation.

Held under the theme "Saudi Coffee: Identity, Culture, and Authentic Heritage," the exhibition demonstrated the role of academic research in studying, documenting, and commercializing indigenous coffee varieties central to Jazan Region's agricultural identity.

The exhibition featured university-developed coffee cultivars, including Jazan Light, Jazan Premium, JU2030, and Jazan Mocha, alongside specialized coffee products, registered patents, and research findings that define the characteristics of local strains to expand their agricultural and economic potential.

The initiative underscores the center's commitment to advancing sustainable cultivation, adding economic value, and maximizing Jazan's regional agricultural advantages, in alignment with Saudi Vision 2030 objectives to develop the agricultural sector and support national products.
