France recorded 131 drowning deaths since June 19 amid heatwave, minister says

French Sports ​Minister Marina Ferrari ​said on Friday ⁠that 131 people ​had died in ​the country from drowning since June 19 ​when a ​heatwave sent temperatures soaring across ‌Europe.
Last ⁠week, French Health Minister Stephanie Rist said there ​were ​2,025 ⁠excess deaths recorded in ​France during ​the ⁠June heatwave, with a particular increase ⁠in ​deaths ​among people aged over 45.
