UN Human Rights Council Adopts Resolution Condemning Rising Religious Hatred, Discrimination

The United Nations Human Rights Council adopted a resolution submitted by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) condemning the rise of religious hatred and discrimination based on religion or belief worldwide.
The council affirmed that the persistence of negative stereotyping and incitement based on religion constitutes a direct threat to social cohesion, calling on states to take effective measures, including legislation, education, and the promotion of interfaith dialogue.
The resolution also stressed the need to protect places of worship and combat incitement to violence, in line with international human rights law.
