Mount Uhud Stands as Witness to History and Faith in Madinah

Mount Uhud is one of the most prominent historical and natural landmarks in Madinah, attracting visitors from within Saudi Arabia and abroad for its deep-rooted religious and historical significance, alongside its natural and cultural appeal.

Mount Uhud is located approximately five kilometers north of the Prophet's Mosque, extending about seven kilometers in length, two to three kilometers in width, and reaching a height of 1,077 meters above sea level, making it one of the largest mountain landmarks in the region.

The mountain holds special significance for Muslims, having witnessed the Battle of Uhud in the third year of Hijra, in which 70 companions were martyred, and it houses the Uhud Martyrs' Cemetery, one of the most prominent historical sites in Madinah.

As part of developing historical and cultural sites, Madinah Municipality implemented the "Smart Mount Uhud Area" project. The project aims to enhance the visitor experience through modern technologies, including improved digital infrastructure, eco-friendly lighting systems, enhanced traffic and safety management, and interactive educational content on the mountain’s history.

The area has also seen the development of facilities including panoramic views of Madinah and dedicated walking and climbing trails, making Mount Uhud a destination combining historical heritage with a comprehensive cultural experience, in line with Saudi Vision 2030 targets.
