Kidana Continues Development of Electrical Infrastructure in Holy Sites Ahead of Hajj 1447 AH
Kidana Development Company, the executive arm of the Royal Commission for Makkah City and Holy Sites, announced the completion of the construction and development of low- and medium-voltage networks in the holy sites with a total capacity of 550 MVA.
The project is part of Kidana’s ongoing efforts to enhance infrastructure efficiency and improve service readiness for pilgrims during the 1447 AH Hajj season, in line with the directives and aspirations of the Kingdom’s leadership and the objectives of the Pilgrim Experience Program.
The initiative aims to meet pilgrims’ needs and uphold the status of the holy sites through a package of electrical infrastructure development projects overseen by the Ministry of Energy and implemented by Kidana in coordination with Saudi Energy, formerly the Saudi Electricity Company.
The projects included the construction of electrical substations and the development of power networks supporting expansion projects and additional areas designated for pilgrim accommodation. The projects aim to enhance the reliability of electricity services and ensure stable and secure power supplies to pilgrims’ camps and vital facilities during Hajj in line with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 to advance services and infrastructure.
The projects carried out by Kidana underscore its commitment to the continued development of the holy sites through the adoption and implementation of integrated and sustainable engineering solutions that enhance infrastructure efficiency and accommodate additional electrical loads resulting from ongoing development works.
These efforts ensure the efficient operation of various systems and the provision of energy required for all vital sites. They also support the transition to electric stoves instead of kerosene stoves and enable the operation of air-conditioning systems using Freon gas in pilgrims’ camps, providing a safe and comfortable residential environment that enhances the quality of pilgrims’ experiences and meets operational and service needs.
