Saudi Reef Transforms Taif Rose Farm into a Model Rural Tourism Destination
The Sustainable Agricultural Rural Development Program (Saudi Reef) has transformed a Taif rose farm into a model rural tourism destination that produces high-value oils and perfumes, revitalizing regional trade in alignment with Saudi Vision 2030.
The farm owner highlighted that Saudi Reef’s guidance was instrumental in expanding operations and mastering the complex extraction process for natural oils. The governorate's moderate climate provides the ideal environment for Taif roses, which are pruned in January to prepare for a harvest that must occur before sunrise to preserve maximum oil content.
This meticulous process ensures the quality of the farm's signature products, ranging from luxury perfumes to rose-infused linen sprays and musks.
By serving as a practical example of rural development, the farm showcases the potential of the rose sector to drive tourism and economic sustainability. The success story underscores the program’s role in empowering local farmers to turn traditional agriculture into diverse, profitable, and culturally significant enterprises.
