10,000 Square Meters of Greenery Enhance Urban Landscape Around Prophet’s Mosque
Tree-planting initiatives, diverse vegetation, and the integration of green spaces and planting beds have enhanced the aesthetic and environmental value of the central area surrounding the Prophet's Mosque. The efforts are improving the urban landscape in an area with high foot traffic from visitors and worshippers.
The Madinah Region Municipality stated that tree-planting and landscaping works in the central area are key components of its urban landscape enhancement program. The project involved planting 5,444 trees across various sites, streets, and roads. Green spaces cover approximately 9,930 square meters and include 1,385 planting beds, creating a continuous green presence that complements the area's architectural and service elements.
The municipality added that efforts to improve the central area's urban landscape include ongoing care of vegetation through irrigation, maintenance, pruning, cleaning, and periodic monitoring. These measures help sustain the aesthetic appeal of the trees and planting beds while maintaining the readiness of areas surrounding the Prophet's Mosque throughout the year.
