SDRPY Supports Education Stability in Socotra
The Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen (SDRPY) launched the “Enhancing Education Stability” initiative on Socotra Island as part of Saudi Arabia’s ongoing development efforts to support the education sector in Yemen.
The initiative led to the resumption of the educational process at the University of Socotra and the reopening of its facilities, in cooperation with Yemen’s Ministry of Higher Education.
The return of operations at the university followed confirmation of full operational funding, which had previously posed a major challenge to the continuity of education. SDRPY succeeded in overcoming these obstacles as part of its comprehensive support for the education sector at various levels, contributing to the achievement of inclusive and sustainable education.
Socotra Governorate benefits from several educational projects, including the construction and equipping of a technical institute, the construction and equipping of a College of Education, and a number of model schools. These projects contribute to expanding educational opportunities and providing a motivating learning environment in the governorate.
SDRPY supports the education sector across all levels and has extended its assistance to 11 Yemeni governorates: Taiz, Aden, Socotra, Al-Mahrah, Marib, Hadramout, Hajjah, Lahj, Abyan, Shabwah, and Al-Dhale. This support is delivered through the implementation of around 60 sustainable development projects and initiatives.
These educational projects cover general and higher education, as well as technical and vocational training, and aim to positively impact individuals and local communities in Yemen, contributing to comprehensive development and building a more promising future for the country.
