Communications Minister Meets with Chinese Tech Giants, Visits KAUST Innovation Hub in Shenzhen
Minister of Communications and Information Technology Abdullah Alswaha led a high-level Saudi delegation on a series of strategic visits to major technology firms in Shenzhen, China. Accompanied by top digital, space, and cybersecurity officials, Alswaha focused discussions on partnership opportunities in artificial intelligence (AI), digital infrastructure, robotics, cloud solutions, and digital entrepreneurship.
During a meeting with Huawei's David Wang, Alswaha discussed expanding cooperation in AI and cloud computing. He also met with 20 gifted Saudi students who completed an advanced AI training program hosted by Huawei in partnership with King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity (Mawhiba), highlighting the vital role of national talent in achieving Saudi Vision 2030 goals.
The delegation also explored future technologies with automation leaders, meeting with UBTECH Robotics executives to discuss smart robot deployment, and with Intellifusion's Dr. Chen Ning to evaluate joint initiatives in AI inference chips, computer vision, and smart city solutions.
Concluding the tour, Alswaha visited the KAUST Innovation Hub in Shenzhen. He met with entrepreneurs from the ninth cohort of the Tech Founders program to discuss pathways for enabling Saudi startups to access Shenzhen’s manufacturing and investment ecosystem, reinforcing the Kingdom's standing as a premier global digital economy hub.
