Madinah's Ruthana: the Most Popular and Demanded Summer Rutab Date

The Madinah Rutab date season is a prominent seasonal and cultural event that reflects the depth of authentic Saudi heritage, contributes to stimulating economic activity, and enhances the region's cultural identity.

 Ruthana Rutab is at the forefront of the variety, distinguished by its high quality and distinctive taste, which has made it popular with both residents and visitors. They are currently available fresh in central markets and sold directly by farms located on the outskirts of Madinah, reflecting the vibrant economic activity that characterizes Madinah's summer.

 Demand for Ruthana Rutab extends to various regions of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, where it is transported daily to central markets in Riyadh, Jeddah, and Eastern Region. A significant quantity is also exported to the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, given their seasonal popularity and ease of transportation and storage compared to some other types.

 Chairman of the Board of Directors of Madinah Dates Cooperative Association Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Radadi explained that the Ruthana palm is one of the first palm species to begin production at the start of the Rutab season. It is considered Madinah's date fruit, due to its widespread popularity among residents and visitors.

 He explained that the Ruthana palm originated in Madinah and enjoys special attention from farmers due to its high market value, in addition to its abundant production, which reaches approximately 200 kilograms per palm. The harvest season lasts approximately 40 days, distinguishing it by its unique taste and distinctive color, which set it apart from other varieties.
